SLAC is currently running guitar classes and the ‘Together on Weekend’ event for younger members of our community. Guitar Class Guitar class is a part of youth participation projects run by SLAC. There are three to six students in a classroom. Currently, one classroom is running with four students, and all donations for students are incentives for the teacher. Styling Up the Confidence Free Service at CoCO’s Op Shop

Styling Up the Confidence is a free service funded by the City of Greater Dandenong. The service is available to anyone who experiences hardship and lives in Dandenong, Noble Park, Keysborough or Springvale.We can provide quality clothing, shoes and accessories for important occasions such as a job interview, court appearance, special family or community event and etc.The Styling Up session includes a free outfit and styling advice in a private and safe space. Seven youth group members participated in the Peace Walk Annual Commemoration organised by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) on May 27, 2023 in Melbourne City. The event ignited a global movement of peace and harmony. We witnessed the power of solidarity as diverse voices merged, hearts connected, and a shared commitment to building a peaceful world became resolute.

The Project worker met Angel Joliennika So Thyna, a 17-year-old girl studying in grade 11 during Khmer Cultural Day in December 2022. Nika was very quiet and rarely started the conversation at first, but when the SLAC worker started talking, she was eager to ask questions. The worker informed her about the youth participation project at SLAC and asked her to be in the advisory group, but she said she had no experience and she never did voluntary work anywhere before, so she felt a lack of confidence to be in the team.
