Leah has been involved with SLAC since childhood, served on the Committee for many years, and was elected as President in 2014.

With a tertiary qualification in Education and over 20 years’ experience in the Finance sector working in business development, strategy, quality and administrative roles, Leah provides ongoing and invaluable contributions to SLAC.

For the largest part of the past 48 years, Bev looked after the people inside and outside of SLAC. As a true leader, she would always have a wise and friendly solution for any problem, and make the SLAC experience unique and enjoyable for everyone.

Bev Douglas was awarded the Citizen of the Year 2015 Greater Dandenong Australia Day Award.

David holds tertiary qualifications in Business Studies. He has had over 35 years of experience working in managerial roles for State and Local government. David worked as a volunteer in not for profit organisations, such as Wavecare and South East Volunteers for the past 15 years. David was awarded The Caroline Chisholm Award in 2014. In 2022 David was awarded with Life Membership at SLAC to mark his contributions for the last 10 years.

Adel became involved with SLAC in 2006. It was then when the Al Fajaar School found a home at SLAC on Sundays.

Adel has been an active and committed volunteer and supporter of both SLAC and the school.

Adel holds formal qualifications in Business Management and has extensive experience running successful small businesses.

Tuan has been involved with SLAC for many years. He joined the Committee in 2017 to work closer with the SLAC team to make a positive difference in the community he grew up in. Tuan brings in extensive knowledge in the printing industry and marketing services sector as well as the real estate sector.

Tuan is an active member of many basketball associations and the Wah Chin Sports Club of Melbourne.

Ranka was involved with SLAC over the years in her capacity working in Family Services. A refugee herself for many years, Ranka’s passion lies in working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD), disadvantaged communities and advocating for their voices to be heard. Ranka holds a Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education, Diploma in Community Services, Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Leadership and Management and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Emma has been a member of SLAC since 2018. Emma holds a Bachelor of Education and Design and brings years of experience working in the NFP sector, government and business, both in Australia and overseas.

Emma has many years of experience in community involvement with a strong approach to strategy, and mentoring of groups and individuals.

Angela joined SLAC Committee of Management in 2020.

Angela holds a double degree of Bachelor of Commerce/Law, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and a CPA certification.

Angela is an experienced Finance Analyst and has extensive connections in the local community.

Binita has proficiency in six different languages. As the Managing Director of Financial Engineering Australia, Binita has been conducting Financial Literacy Training for women. Binita holds honorary positions of the Democracy Ambassador at The Victorian Electoral Commission, and an Assistant Treasurer for the Southern Migrant Refugee Centre. Binita is a recipient of “The Assistant Minister’s Multicultural Leaders Award 2020”.

Elena has worked in the non-profit sector for over twenty years and has been the CEO of SLAC since 2005.

She holds Bachelor of Education and Linguistics; Diplomas in Business Management, Community Development and Training Design.
